A man has been injured after the crane he was operating toppled over on a quiet Sydney street.

Emergency services were called to Seeland Place in Padstow Heights about 4pm when the crane came down, narrowly missing a home and two cars in the driveway.

The crane had been working on a housing development.

The crane operator was trapped in his cabin, about two metres in the air, for some time.

His workmates used a ladder to get him down.

He was driven to hospital by his colleagues but is said to have sustained only minor injuries.
