A man and woman in their 50s had taken the plane out for a ride in Cootharaba on Sunday when the vessel encountered trouble and was forced to make an emergency landing.

Emergency services attended the incident off Greenfield Lane in Cootharaba, in the Noosa region, on Sunday morning.

A Queensland Police Service spokesperson described the incident as a rough landing at a private airstrip, after the plane ran into trouble.

The plane reportedly went down after encountering a heavy gust of wind, which spun the vessel around and caused it to lose altitude.

A man and woman in their 50s were assessed by paramedics.
