Witnesses told 9News a 50 year-old woman volunteering behind the barbecue fainted, falling and knocking the gas bottle over causing it to catch alight.

“She fell on the floor, and next minute it went boom,” Ernie, a witness to the fire told 9News.

He said the flames were “reasonably big”.

“They were hot too, very hot.”

The woman was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital with serious burns to her face.
