A couple was killed after a tree uprooted and crashed onto their car in a freak accident in WA’s south-west.

Police said a grey Isuzu D-Max utility was travelling west on Graphite Road near Burnside at Deanmill about 3.30pm yesterday when the tree fell.

The 78-year-old female driver and her 75-year-old male passenger died from their injuries at the scene.

Investigators from the major crash unit are examining the scene.
