She’s not just a pretty face!
Queen of country pop Shania Twain wasn’t impressed with Brad Pitt — but she certainly served when she walked the red carpet at the People’s Country Choice Awards on Thursday night in a sparking denim two-piece.
The 60-year-old turned heads with a 60s-style blonde bombshell coiffure that brought out her light brown eyes and left many thinking one thing: let’s go, girls.
The country singer left no doubt she was doin’ it in style, having participated in making the custom Levi’s ensemble come to life.
“Isn’t it crazy? I love it,” Twain told E! News on the red carpet, seemingly aware of the effect she was having on anyone who saw her let it all hang out.
“I was involved with the sketches and the design and the silhouette and everything. To me, that’s the joy.”
She added, “It’s not about putting on something that’s amazing—it’s about being part of it.”
Twain stunned fans with her unrecognizable short blonde bob. While some had mixed reactions about her look, many supporters came out swinging.
“Shania Twain in her unapologetic era. Love that for mother,” one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Shania’s in her idgaf era and just living & loving life! And I don’t blame her. She’s been through so much from losing her voice and having to have open throat surgery, while she was awake, to get it fixed,” another added.
It’s a big night for Twain. In addition to serving as host of the award show held at Nashville’s iconic Grand Ole Opry House, the “Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?” singer is also a nominee. She’s up for Concert Tour of 2024 against some big names, including Tim McGraw, Zach Bryan, Jason Aldean, George Strait, Luke Combs, Kenny Chesney and Morgan Wallen.
Twain seemed excited to host the award show, revealing she drew her inspiration from fellow country star Reba McEntire.
“The hosts are chosen, I think quite carefully, making sure people are relating and the host has experience,” Shania shared with Billboard in an interview published on Sept. 23. “Reba is one of my favorite hosts. She’s speaking from experience and I think that commands respect and attention. She’s funny and smart, and is loved by all, and it’s a compliment to be asked to do something like [hosting an awards show]. So Reba is a good example for me.”
Twain has been through a lot in her lifetime, contracting Lyme disease in 2003 and then undergoing open-throat surgery in 2018 after damaging vocal cords. Last year, the “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” singer opened up about contracting COVID-19 and pneumonia, revealing she had to be airlifted to a hospital.
“It was progressively getting worse. My vital signs were getting worse … and in the end I had to be air-evacuated,” Twain shared. “It was like science fiction, I felt like I was going to another planet or something.”
The country superstar overcame her health conditions, releasing her sixth studio alum, “Queen of Me,” in February 2023. Twain also landed a Las Vegas residency called “Come On Over.”
“It’s great to be just singing again, on a tour with my new voice after my surgery,” she shared last year. “I’m in a very celebratory state of mind.”
