A construction worker has suffered serious head injuries after he fell from a building site in a horror workplace accident on the Gold Coast.

The man sliced his head open when he fell 4.5m after being struck by an object at a construction site in Coolangatta around 11am on Thursday.

It’s understood the worker fell from a ledge and became trapped in a narrow space.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene for a ‘significant head laceration’.

He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

WorkSafe Queensland is expected to launch an investigation.
