Conor McGregor proudly declared that he has the ‘complete backing of the entire Trump administration’ in one of a flurry of social media posts after his controversial White House visit this week.
The Irish mixed martial arts fighter was invited to the meet President Donald Trump and several members of the administration to mark St. Patrick’s Day and he used his platform to fire shots at Ireland’s Prime Minister.
He claimed that rampant immigration was leading to Ireland ‘potentially losing its Irishness’.
In the days that have followed his remarkable visit to Washington, the 36-year-old has lifted the lid on his interactions, claimed to have had ‘productive meetings’ with senior officials and sported the lesser-seen ‘Make Ireland Great Again’ cap.
One post on Wednesday morning contained images of a meeting with US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth. McGregor wrote: ‘Tremendously productive meeting!’
In another post with Department of Health chief Robert F Kennedy Jr, McGregor said: ‘Astounding meeting.’

The pair could be seen exchanging pleasantries in a series of images on X. In one picture Kennedy was even sporting the altered green ‘MIGA’ cap alongside McGregor’s family who accompanied him on his behind-the-scenes tour of the White House.
Slightly more substantive analysis was given to his meeting with Director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, Sergio Gor. McGregor hailed his and the Trump administration’s work ethic while slamming that of the Irish government.
‘Sergio Gor gets it done,’ he wrote. ‘They were saving astronauts caught in Space here! This administrations work rate is wildly impressive, NOBODY CAN DENY. My own government has barely done a days work since its inception many months ago.
‘And when they were in it was just shouting over each other about who gets to sit where.’
His most stunning post claimed that he enjoys the full support of the Trump administration. That statement is in stark contrast to the words of the Irish PM Michael Martin who insisted that the fighter was not in the US to represent Ireland and did not speak for the people of Ireland, and ‘has no mandate to’.
In his subsequent post, McGregor said: ‘The days of weak men destroying countries is over! I have the complete backing and support of the entire Trump administration! They are the Government of ACTION! A beacon of light for the western World! Let’s go Ireland.’
Earlier, the former UFC champion had taken to the podium in the White House press room to lay into the Irish government as an administration of ‘zero action with zero accountability’.
‘Our money is being spent on overseas issues that is nothing to do with the Irish people [sic],’ he said.

McGregor’s strong rhetoric closely resembled that used by President Trump and his allies

McGregor launched an attack on an ‘illegal immigration racket ravaging’ Ireland in a fiery rant at the White House before meeting US President Donald Trump
‘There are rural towns in Ireland that have been overrun in one swoop, that have become a minority in one swoop, so issues need to be addressed and the 40 million Irish Americans, as I said, need to hear this because if not there will be no place to come home and visit.’
McGregor’s invitation to the White House came after Donald Trump last week singled out the sportsman, who was found liable for sexual assault after a civil trial last year, as one of his favourite Irish people.
The strong rhetoric on display in Monday’s speech aligned with Trump’s own rallies against illegal immigration.
But it is not the first time the 36-year-old has ventured into politics.
