A man was found nearby with serious burns and taken to hospital.

He is assisting police with their inquiries.

The house was fully ablaze when emergency crews arrived, with police calling the scene “confronting”.

“There’s no danger to the public and we are confident all parties involved have been located,” Detective Inspector David Harbison said.

”It’s a confronting scene not only for police, but members of the public.”

“This matter is very much in its infancy. It’s not appropriate to release any further details at this point, the investigation is unfolding as we speak.”

The home was completely destroyed by fire, but no nearby houses were damaged.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything in the area at the time of the incident, or who may have relevant dashcam/CCTV footage to come forward.
