Noteworthy items during the Yankees’ Grapefruit League action on Sunday:
Poteet dreams
Cody Poteet, a starting depth candidate, looked solid again in two innings of relief, striking out three and scattering two singles across 32 pitches in the Yankees’ 7-2 loss to the Tigers at Steinbrenner Field.

Roughed up
Ron Marinaccio, battling for a bullpen spot, had a rough outing. He walked three batters, allowed two hits and gave up four runs while recording just two outs.
Caught my eye
Shortstop Jeter Downs looked like his namesake, going deep in the hole to backhand a ground ball and then unleashing a strong throw to first base to nail ex-Yankee Gio Urshela.
“Wow,” Aaron Boone said. “That was a get-your-attention, stand-up [play]. That was impressive.”
Monday’s schedule
Clarke Schmidt will start the first leg of a two-game road trip to the east coast of Florida, pitching against the Marlins at 6:35 p.m. in Jupiter.
