Well, these are words I never expected to hear on live TV, although it is nice to get a confirmation of the fact that CNN, at least as an organization, does not hate America.
It must just be a lot of their reporters who do. Individually. Not as an organized group.
Dana Bash has the ultimate one-liner for Americans.

Watching that clip, two related ideas spring to mind, although neither is mind-blowing: 1) Dana Bash really isn’t that smart, and 2) Donald Trump sure knows how to get under their skin, doesn’t he?
Dana Bash responds to Trump’s Oval Office comments with a serious on-air statement:
“For the record… CNN does not hate our country.”Have we ever seen a “news” network feel the need to clarify it doesn’t hate America? That alone says everything.

I admit that I am not in love with Donald Trump’s jabs at the media, which in an ideal world would be left to his underlings and those of us who make our living spewing bile at the odious folks in the Pravda Media. But this world is not ideal, and there is certainly nothing unjust about Trump’s jibes. After all, the Pravda Media has done more than any single other group or individual to harm this country by spreading lies and hoaxes. It has collaborated with a large group of knaves and traitors to slander Donald Trump and try to throw him in jail, get him assassinated, impeached, and bankrupted.
It’s not injustice or disgust at bullying that makes me wince at these exchanges; it’s the vain wish that we didn’t have such a broken elite. Presidents shouldn’t be treated as Trump has been, and presidents shouldn’t have to descend into the gutter. But here we are.
I really do believe that CNN as an organization doesn’t exactly hate our country per se. They love a lot of things about it. It’s just that so damn many Americans live here.
They’d love to have the land and the wealth. Without so many disgusting Americans. Do you doubt me? Watch thiis:

As CNN gets whittled down to a smaller and smaller group, what is striking to me is just how ‘meh’ most of the people there are, and how outsized their egos are compared to their talents. There are one or two standouts–Scott Jennings, obviously, and Harry Enten is smart and entertaining–but most of their top ‘talent” barely enter midwit territory.
Again, watch how rattled Dana Bash is in that opening clip. She spends half her life calling Trump names and implying he is Hitler, but practically curls up into a ball when he strikes back.
Pathetic.
As I wrote yesterday, CNN actually platformed Taylor Lorenz in a show arguing that all the political violence in America comes from the right. That is especially ironic given that Lorenz is praising Luigi Mangione as a hero for shooting an executive in the back.
Taylor Lorenz on murderer Luigi Mangioni: “Here’s this man who, who’s a revolutionary, who’s famous, who’s handsome, who’s young, who’s smart — he’s a person that seems like a morally good man, which is hard to find”pic.twitter.com/o2rmSu1MNV

Ah, yes, if there were only more morally good Americans like Luigi Mangione cleaning up the streets, America could be so much better.
Now let’s go burn a Tesla Cybertruck and shoot at President Trump, folks!
CNN is to America as liberals are to humanity; both love the objects of their affection in the abstract–it’s just that the damn people are so disgusting to them.
