Christmas celebrations have begun early at Coles, where holiday-themed baked goods are making their way onto shelves across the country.
Fruit mince pies and a variety of puddings were spotted on display in a store in Sydney yesterday – almost four months out from December 25.
Coles revealed it had quietly sent out the stock to locations nationally just last week to help customers get a head start on their shopping.
The timing is actually in line with previous years.
What’s more, the supermarket giant also launched its first drop of its Christmas bakery range back in July for customers in the eastern seaboard who enjoy celebrating a wintery Christmas in July.
”We know our customers love eating our festive delights in the months leading up to Christmas and last year we sold more than 50 per cent of our fruit mince pies before December,” a Coles spokesperson told 9News.com.au.
“Whether you’re starting your Christmas shopping or just looking to indulge, customers can tuck into the joys of the holiday season and stagger their costs leading up to the big day.”
Christmas traditional pudding, along with a variety of other flavours including chocolate and raspberry and vanilla, fruit mince pies and an apricot and peach pie are now on sale with prices ranging from $2.50 to $8.50.
Big names plummet as Australia’s most distrusted brands revealed
Last year, the supermarket giant sold more than 1.5 million packets of its fruit mince pies and more than 500,000 of its puddings ahead of Christmas.
Coles anticipates customers to spend more than ever before on Christmas goods this year, despite high inflation rates and rising costs.
