A child has suffered life-threatening injuries after being hit by a ute in the driveway of an Adelaide home.

Police and paramedics rushed to the home on Rentoul Avenue in Netherby, near Unley after 8am today.

Early reports indicate the child was struck at the end of the driveway by the front of the ute.

The child has been taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The driver of the ute is assisting police, and has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Major Crash investigators are on scene.

Rantoul Road is closed between Pulleine Avenue and Netherby Avenue while police remain on scene.
