A toddler and her grandmother remain in hospital after a dog attack in Brisbane’s south.

The three-year-old girl and 64-year-old grandmother were attacked by two bull mastiffs at their Algester home about 7pm on Thursday.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the child was seriously injured and suffered bite wounds to the neck, chest and stomach.

The girl was in a stable condition on Friday night.

Her grandmother suffered bite marks on her neck and the back of her head.

She underwent surgery at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

A third person, a neighbour who rushed to the woman and child’s aid, was also hospitalised.

“They were trying to get in to help with them and may have fallen from a fence… that person has a back injury and some cuts and grazes,” QAS senior operations officer Adrian Tong said.

He said the scene and the injuries were “quite confronting”.

“We were able to treat them quite quickly and come up with a plan… they were met on the way to hospital by high acuity response unit,” he said.

“The injuries that were described to us by the crews was a number of bite marks, not just one or two, bruising, so it sounds like it would have been a fairly intense attack by the dogs and it must have been horrifying for the people involved.”
