A young boy has been seriously injured in a truck rollover on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.

A Toyota four-wheel-drive rolled over on the Tod Highway at Murdinga at 5pm yesterday, injuring the driver, 35, and four passengers, aged 10, eight and six.

The 10-year-old boy was critically injured and was flown to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for emergency treatment.

Two other passengers, an eight-year-old boy and a six-year-old girl, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were flown to Adelaide for treatment. 

The driver of the car, a 35-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours in both directions following the crash, but had reopened by 9pm.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
