Chicago weather: Flood Watch for most of area, severe storms move through | LIVE RADAR

CHICAGO (WLS) — Scattered thunderstorms are moving through the Chicago area Thursday night.

ABC7 meteorologists issued an AccuWeather Alert for Thursday and Friday.

A Flood Watch is in effect for Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, McHenry and Will counties until 7 a.m. Friday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in effect for some counties in the area, but it has since expired.

Most of the Chicago area was under a Level 1 risk a severe weather on Thursday and will be under a Level 2 risk for Friday.

The biggest concern is heavy rain which could lead to localized flash flooding overnight.

The Chicago weather forecast included a Severe Thunderstorm Warning and a Flood Watch most of the area Thursday night and into Friday morning.

Wind and hail were the main concerns for Thursday’s severe weather. A low-end brief tornado threat was a possibility.

Storms are likely to be gone by Friday morning, but another round will make its way on Friday evening.

The Chicago White Sox home game against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday was postponed due to rain, the team said. They will play a doubleheader Friday at 2:10 p.m. and 7:10 p.m.

The Windy City Smokeout was briefly evacuated Thursday outside the United Center.
