CHICAGO (WLS) — A 41-year-old man was shot and killed during an armed robbery in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood Friday morning, Chicago police said.
A manager of Barraco’s Pizza in Evergreen Park said the victim worked for them as a delivery driver.
Crime tape surrounded the Auburn Gresham alley where a dark gray Toyota Prius could be seen with it’s doors wide open and it’s flashers on.
Officers responded to the 7800-block of South Laflin Street at about 2:24 a.m. and found the victim inside of a vehicle with wounds to the back and face, police said.
Chicago police say 62 armed robberies citywide appear connected
The victim was transported to Advocate Christ Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

A neighbor who does not want us to use her name said she never heard the shots.
“It is so sad,” she said. “It’s so sad and like I said, we need all the law enforcement we can get here. This is terrible!”
At this point it is unclear what, If anything, was taken or if the driver was lured to an occupied or vacant building near the alley.
“You have more abandoned buildings in communities than you have people actually living in and it’s so sad,” the neighbor said. “So if that were to happen, I’m not a bit surprised.”
Police said sometimes delivery drivers will call officers for an escort to make a delivery. This driver did not have one.
No one is in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating.
