CHICAGO (WLS) — One person is in custody after an hours-long standoff in the Edgewater neighborhood Wednesday, Chicago police said.

A burglary suspect who might be armed is barricaded in an Edgewater apartment Wednesday morning, Chicago police said.

CPD said the incident began about 8 p.m. Tuesday night in the 6000-block of North Winthrop Avenue after a burglary suspect who was possibly armed barricaded himself in an apartment complex.

A SWAT team responded to the scene, and residents were asked to stay away from the heavy police activity.

Police said a suspect is in custody and charges are pending.
