Veteran Channel Seven weather presenter Liz Cantor announced her resignation from her position on Wednesday, after 17 years with the network.
The charismatic TV host, 41, shared the shock news in a statement, and revealed she would be making the move over to rival network Channel Ten.
‘I was a seven, now I’m a ten,’ Cantor was reported to have told the Courier Mail.
‘I feel honoured to be part of the return of local news to Queensland. I’m really excited to take weather out into our community,’ Cantor added in a statement.
In a surprising move, Liz will be presenting on 10 News First Queensland alongside another former Channel Seven reporter, Sharyn Ghidella, who also left the network earlier this year.
Cantor, who will start her new role on Monday, took to Instagram to pay tribute to her former colleagues and share her excitement at the career move.
Alongside a gallery of precious photos of her working at the network, Liz wrote some heartfelt words: ‘I just want to use this space to take a moment and jump in to say thank you to my 7News colleagues.
‘I cherish the friendships, experiences, lessons and growth I’ve experienced while running alongside you all, over the past 17 years.
‘You’re the most incredible, hard working bunch of inspirational people. I count my lucky stars I got to share such an influential part of my life with you all.’

The shock news comes after Sharyn Ghidella, 57, also confirmed her exciting new job after her shock axing from Seven.
The Queensland-based news presenter was sacked from 7News last month after 17 years with the network amid a string of media job cuts.
She later confirmed she will be joining Network 10 to anchor the 5pm Queensland news bulletin.
Her move to the network will also bring the 10 News First show back to its Brisbane studios after years of it being read from Sydney.

Sharyn described her new job as a ‘full-circle moment’ as she returns to Network 10 after beginning her metro news career with the channel back in 1990.
10 News First’s current presenter Sandra Sully will hand over the reins, saying she is ‘thrilled’ Sharyn is taking on the role.
There has been a cost-cutting bloodbath at Seven as the network’s news division comes under new management.
Other major names to go include veterans Robert Ovadia, Andrew Frampton and seasoned Melbourne crime reporter Cameron Baud.
