Fans can also expect to see images and clips not shown during this year’s blockbuster season.

Meanwhile, Hamish admits that he is no survivalist, even if he is a huge fan.

‘I, like everyone, get so invested in every season of Alone whilst watching smugly from the comfort of my own couch,’ he said in an announcement.

‘I have so much respect for the contestants and so many things I want to ask them as a viewer, again, from a couch but this time one in a studio with them.

‘I hope our conversation has far more trouts than eels in it and if you don’t get that reference maybe don’t watch,’ he joked.

The program, which has been a massive hit for SBS, has been billed as the most brutal and authentic reality series in history as the contestants are left alone in the wild and must film themselves.

The first season of Alone Australia made headlines last year after it became the SBS network’s most watched original series ever.

Based on a US format, the Aussie version, which saw its first season filmed in Tasmania, scored more than a million viewers for half of its 11 episodes.

The season one finale saw Gina Chick crowned the series winner, after braving the elements to survive in the grueling wilderness for a staggering 67 days.
