In November 2022, Cher was seen holding hands with Def Jam music executive Alexander “AE” Edwards during a night out at the restaurant Craig’s in West Hollywood, California and people were buzzing about it for a few reasons. One, it’s Cher, so if she’s dating someone new, it’s going to cause a stir. Two, the veteran entertainer is 40 years Edwards’ senior, and three, he’s been accused of being a player since he dated Amber Rose and admitted to cheating on her. Edwards and Rose have a son together as well.
Cher confirmed that she and Edwards were an item shortly after the photo surfaced, and people had a lot to say about the age gap, which she responded to. “I’m not defending us. Haters are gonna hate … Doesn’t matter that we’re happy & not bothering anyone,” Cher tweeted on November 6, 2022. People brought up Edwards’ past cheating as well. “Babe, English is my first language, I’m in ❤️ Not blinded by it. Know what I know … Smoke doesn’t always mean 🔥,” Cher responded in a now-deleted tweet posted by The Shade Room.

In December 2022, she talked about the relationship on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and appeared to be on Cloud-9 while doing so. “On paper, it’s kind of ridiculous,” said Cher. “But in real life, we get along great. He’s fabulous … He’s very kind, he’s very smart, he’s very talented, and he’s really funny.”
