A car has been left teetering with its front in the air after smashing into the front yard of a family home in Melbourne late at night.

The Holden Station wagon crashed into a palm tree in the front yard at Hoppers Crossing in the city’s south west, which then took out the front of the property at 11.30pm on Friday.

Luckily nobody was inside.

The family, who are due to move into the home from overseas next month, now must find somewhere else to live.

Melbourne man Jeremy Radcliffe, who spoke to 9News on behalf of his sister, who had been living there said she was “terrified” after she heard about the crash.

He said she told him to “someone has gone through it”.

Radcliffe said the situation has left him feeling “annoyed” and “frustrated”.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was taken to a nearby hospital.

He is in a stable condition with several cuts.
