A Canadian national has faced court after 11kg of cocaine was allegedly found in his luggage on Thursday.
The Canadian man, 38, was stopped for a bag examination after landing in Sydney Airport from a flight coming from the US on Thursday.
ABF officers found 10 vacuum-sealed packages of a white substance in his luggage, with initial testing returning an allegedly positive result of cocaine.
The packages weighed a total of 11.6kg.
AFP Detective Acting Superintendent Dom Stephenson alleged it was a “brazen attempt to smuggle cocaine into Australia.”
The man was arrested and charged with importing a commercial quantity of a drug.
He was remanded in custody and appeared in court yesterday.
He will re-appear in Downing Centre Local Court on February 12.
