Callala Bay death: Tragic tradie died alone still holding the electrical cable which killed him under the home where he was working

An electrician has been found dead hours after he went missing, still clutching the live cable which may have killed him underneath the home where he was working.

His worried family raised the alarm on Thursday evening when the 53-year-old tradie never came back from the address in Callala Bay on the NSW south coast.

A police search finally found his body in a void beneath a large home under construction in the sleepy seaside town around 8pm.

Witnesses revealed he was still holding an electrical cable in his hand when emergency services made the grim discovery. 

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene after police and fire fighters and a fleet of ambulances swarmed the scene and sealed off a section of the quiet road.

NSW Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

‘Shortly after 8pm yesterday, emergency services were called to a home in Lackersteen Street, Callala Bay,’ a spokesman told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Officers from South Coast Police District arrived to find a 53-year-old man – who was unresponsive – under the home.

‘The man was removed from under the home and was pronounced deceased by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

‘Police established a crime scene at the home and commenced inquiries. The death is not being treated as suspicious.’
