A police official is calling for issued weapons to be fitted with GPS after a serving senior constable was charged over the alleged murders of a Sydney couple.
Beau Lamarre-Condon has been charged with allegedly shooting Luke Davies and Jesse Baird with his police-issued glock pistol at a Paddington home on February 19.
It is believed no one within NSW Police knew Lamarre-Condon was allegedly in possession of that weapon, which had been checked out from Miranda Police Station days before.
There is now a call within the ranks for police-issued weapons to be installed with GPS so armed officers can be tracked in the community.
Davies was remembered by his flight attendant colleagues at Qantas, who named their parade float after him.
His mother Sandy also marched behind the float.

The annual parade had been his favourite night of the year, his friends told 9News.
“Luke was the sweetest person,” friend performer Hugh Sheridan said.
9News understands other family members of the couple were also marching in the parade.
Mardi Gras chief executive Gil Beckwith said the loss has been heartbreaking for the LGBTQIA+ community.
“It’s been a really challenging week for everyone obviously with the loss of those two beautiful young men, it’s been quite heartbreaking for so many in our community,” she said.
Among those was Police Commissioner Karen Webb, who said it was great to be there after the tough week.
