Police were called to reports of a stabbing on Hutchinson Street in Coober Pedy about 5.45pm on Tuesday last week.
“When police arrived, they found a man collapsed on the footpath who had been stabbed,” police alleged.
The 46-year-old man from Indulkana was rushed to hospital but died shortly later.
A 47-year-old man from Coober Pedy was arrested nearby and charged with murder. He appeared in court the following day.
As investigations continue, police are asking anyone in the vicinity of Hutchison Street and Wright Road who may have witnessed the incident or has any CCTV or dash cam footage to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
