A newborn calf has melted the hearts of thousands with its unique smiley markings.

Given the name Happy, the calf was born on a dairy farm at Ripplebrook, in regional Victoria.

Barry Coster from Belbrook Holsteins collected the young bovine during his morning rounds this week.

The youngster will become a pet for the farm’s owners, who say they will put him to good use as a lawn mower.

There is no doubt Happy’s unique colouring will mean he quickly becomes a staff favourite.
