Voters in Scott Morrison’s former seat will head to the polls for a byelection on April 13.
Pre-polling for the byelection will start on April 2 and applications for postal votes can now be lodged.
The seat is one of the safest Liberal seats in the country, retained by Morrison with a 12.4 per cent margin in 2022, and Labor may not field a candidate.
Labor has until March 21 to nominate a challenger.
Former management consultant Simon Kennedy, who unsuccessfully ran in Bennelong in 2022, won Liberal preselection for Cook and is expected to comfortably win the byelection.
The electorate is located in southern Sydney and connects parts of the St George district with the Sutherland Shire.
It includes the suburbs of Cronulla, Kurnell, Caringbah, Miranda, Sylvania and Gymea, as well as Blakehurst, Monterey, Sans Souci and Sandringham in the south.
