Burglary suspect fatally strikes cyclist with pick-up truck while trying to evade cops in Brooklyn

A burglary suspect driving a pick-up truck fatally struck a female bicyclist as he tried to evade NYPD cops on his tail late Tuesday, police said.

Cops spotted the Dodge Ram truck – matching the description of a vehicle wanted in connection with a burglary – at 34th Avenue and 37th Street in Astoria just after 11 p.m., authorities said.

But when the officers tried to stop the motorist, he sped off – hitting the 36-year-old bike rider in the intersection, cops said.

The impact hurled the cyclist from her ride and she slammed into a parked BMW 328i, police said.

The woman – who was not immediately identified pending family notification – was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was pronounced dead, cops said.

The Dodge Ram driver, who had two passengers, took off, police said.

The ditched pick-up truck was later recovered unoccupied, but no arrests had been made by Wednesday morning.

It was not immediately clear where or when the burglary occurred, but the pursuing officers were assigned to Brooklyn’s 77th Precinct, cops said.

The investigation is ongoing by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad.
