A woman has died after a bus mounted the kerb and crushed her during peak hour in Brisbane’s CBD.
Emergency services were called to Anzac Square on Edward Street at 5pm on Friday to attend the crash which killed a woman in her 20s and injured nine more.
Queensland Fire and Rescue said that officers arrived to find the woman pinned between the bus and a building as pedestrians watched on.

Police officers and Paramedics are also attending the scene but despite their efforts to free the woman she died at the scene.

Paramedics treated nine people from aboard the bus including the driver and three were taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital and another two to Mater Hospital.
Their injuries included whiplash and soft tissue injuries.
District Duty Officer Senior Sergeant Steve Watterson told the Courier Mail that it was a ‘horrendous scene’.
‘Emergency services were confronted with quite a horrendous scene with a person caught under the bus,’ he said.
‘We were lucky at the time there was only nine passengers on the bus with three sustaining minor cuts and bruising as a result of the impact and exiting the bus through some emergency windows.’
Witnesses also told the publication that there were ‘bricks flying everywhere’ after the bus veered onto the sidewalk and collided with the building.
Police teams are now reviewing CCTV footage of the footpath and attempting to contact the deceased woman’s family.

Nine others onboard the bus, including the driver, were treated by paramedics on the scene

Traffic is being diverted and drivers have been urged to avoid the area
Sen Sgt Watterson added that the bus would be removed from the scene and inspected by the forensic crash unit while the driver is being treated by paramedics.
First responders said that the driver was still buckled into the driver’s seat when they got there ‘suffering the affects of shock’.
Police are currently unaware as to how he lost control of the bus.
Firefighters are still assisting police on the scene and traffic is currently being diverted while drivers have been urged to avoid the area.
Edward Street remains fully closed and Ann Street is partially closed.
