Oh, that Maine Governor Janet Mills – she will just push and push.
You remember how she smacktalked the president when at the White House for a governor’s conference.
JUST IN: Trump calls out the governor of Maine to her face and asks her if she is going to comply with his executive order banning men from women’s sports.
Trump: I understand the governor of Maine is here. Are you not gonna comply with it?

The governor decided that leaving males in girls’ school sports was worth calling President Trump’s bluff and so she did nothing.
Unsurprsingly, Trump did exactly what he said he was going to do.
Just weeks after a tense White House exchange between Maine’s Democratic governor and the nation’s Republican president, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday it would temporarily halt all spending on programs in the University of Maine system.
The funding freeze, announced in an email and confirmed by a department spokesperson, amounts to $100 million, USDA said. The University of Maine System has nearly $63 million in active grants from the agriculture department, and is expecting $35 million to be paid out for ongoing statewide education, research and extension activities, a system spokesperson said.

Although it was restored shortly thereafter thanks to some nimble footwork by Maine Senator Susan Collins and the initiation of a Title IX compliance review.
The issue flared up again at the beginning of April when Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said she was pausing some funding for Maine educational programs, again because the state was not in compliance with Title IX.
Maine officials sued the administration of President Donald Trump on Monday to try to stop the government from freezing federal money in the wake of a dispute over transgender athletes in sports.
Trump and Maine, which is controlled by Democrats, are in the midst of a weeks long dispute about the Title IX anti-discrimination law and the participation of transgender students in high school sports. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins said earlier this month that the U.S. Department of Agriculture was pausing some funds for Maine educational programs because of what she described as Maine’s failure to comply with the Title IX law.
How Rollins could possibly get that impression when only the Maine legislature itself voted to censure a GOP lawmaker for critical Facebook posts about a *checks notes* transgender athlete winning a girls’ high school track championship, I have no idea.
Secretary Rollins laid down the law to the governor and her toadies again, for what it was worth.
…“In order to continue to receive taxpayer dollars from USDA, the state of Maine must demonstrate compliance with Title IX’s protection of female student athletes from having to compete with or against or having to appear unclothed before males,” Rollins’ letter said.
Maine filed a lawsuit yesterday accusing the Trump administration of ‘illegally withholding funds that’ – and here’s the kicker – ‘go to keeping children FED.’
Oh, you knew they had to pull a FOR THE CHILDREN.
It’s all they’ve got.
In the meantime, the Maine Department of Corrections had its own issues with a sweet, petite young thing who’d previously been named ‘Andrew’ before deciding he was a she trapped in a hulking 6 foot 1, 245 pound body.
Oh, yeah – and had stabbed both his parents plus the family dog to death.
A Maine man who murdered both of his parents in cold blood has been relocated to the women’s prison in Windham after identifying as a woman, a Maine Department of Corrections spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
Andrew T. Balcer, 24, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he stabbed both of his parents and the family dog to death in 2017.
…Heald initially told The Maine Wire and Reduxx journalist Jennifer Gingrich, who was the first to report on MDOC reclassifying Balcer as a female inmate, that MDOC would not reveal whether it had transferred him into a female facility.
But after The Maine Wire asked Heald to identify the Freedom of Access Act statutory exemption allowing her to withhold such public records, she relented.
The 6’2″ 245 lb Balcer, who now goes by Andrea, will now be housed in a women’s facility until 2051.
Andrew T. Balcer stabbed both of his parents in cold blood, killed the family dog, then calmly called police.
He was booked into prison as a man at age 24.

He’s a sick puppy and a big one. Wouldn’t you love to be his female roomie, thank you, Maine?
Bondi pulled their funding this morning.
NEW: U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announces the Trump administration has pulled all non-essential funding from Maine’s Department of Corrections after they allowed a 6’1” 245 lb. man into a woman’s prison.

The Trump administration is crawling through woodwork up there, and their touchy-feely elected officials won’t be able to fend off the onslaught.
…State law, specifically the Maine Human Rights Act, prohibits discrimination in education, employment, housing and more on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, ancestry or national origin.
Since then, six federal agencies have been investigating Maine over its transgender policies, mostly centered around allegations of violations of the anti-discrimination law Title IX. Title IX is a federal law, passed in 1972, that guarantees equal opportunities to girls and women to compete in sports in any educational institution that receives federal funding.
There are just two transgender athletes participating in scholastic sports this school year.
The U.S. Department of Education launched a separate probe into its state counterpart over allegations that dozens of school districts are hiding students’ “gender plans” from parents in violation of the Family Educational Privacy Rights Act.
The Maine Department of Education faces a Friday deadline from its federal counterpart to indicate it is complying with Trump’s executive order and novel and untested interpretation of Title IX. If Maine misses that deadline, the state could face sanction or the case could be referred to the Justice Department.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services already has referred a Title IX case to the Justice Department, and Bondi has pledged to sue Maine over any alleged violations.
It always baffles me how these progressives can cling to their anti-discriminatory virtue-signaling smugness while trompling all over women and girls without a second thought.
The Trump administration will be the bad guys in this story, punishing ‘the children‘ who will starve because of Trump’s transphobia, not because of any progressive misogyny.
It sounds as if there are a few more places that need a cleansing fire hose taken to them.
