An unidentified body was discovered at Woodlands Park in Essendon about 11am on Sunday

An unidentified body has been pulled from a lake just metres from a popular children’s playground. 

The body was found while dozens of families were at Woodlands Park in Essendon, north-west Melbourne, at about 11am on Sunday. 

The discovery prompted police to cordon off part of lake’s shoreline.

Police are yet to confirm the person’s identity and their cause of death, but it’s understood it is not being treated as suspicious.
