A body has been found today in the water in Melbourne's south-east.

Emergency services were called to the vicinity of the Nepean Highway in Seaford at about 6.55am.

The person is yet to be formally identified.

Police are investigating, but it's unknown if the person's death is suspicious.

The investigation is ongoing.
