A teenage girl and an elderly man have been rushed to hospital after a boat explosion on the River Murray in South Australia.

Emergency crews were called to Paisley about 100km north of Adelaide just before 12:15pm after witnesses reported seeing the boat explode close to the river’s edge.

It is understood both the teen and the 69-year-old man suffered burns to the lower part of their body with at least one considered to have sustained ‘serious’ injuries.

SA Ambulance said they have dispatched a rescue helicopter to transfer the patients to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
