A glass bottle was found shattered on the home’s front verandah, while an earlier attempt at an explosion was found around the corner on a nearby street.

The home’s front window was also smashed, with police saying a brick was also possibly thrown by the suspect.

Witness Rachael Haren has told 9News she woke to the incident.

“I heard this squabble out the front because I had my windows open and sort of peeked but couldn’t see anything and then I heard a loud bang,” she said.

“I did hear someone yelling and I heard some running and I heard a car speeding off really fast.

The car from which the Molotov cocktail was thrown was later found burnt out. (Nine)

“It’s pretty scary really since we live in quite a nice area.”

Moments before the Molotov cocktail was thrown a stolen BMW was seen slowly driving down the street.

It was then found abandoned and on fire on Church Hill Road in Old Noarlunga.

Fire crews extiguished the blaze and police are investigating.

Police are urging anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
