Bill Simmons patted himself on the back for how he handled being captured on camera during Nikki Bella’s hip-shaking moment at WWE’s debut of “Raw” on Netflix last week.
During Tuesday’s “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” the Ringer founder responded to getting the meme treatment while he simply was trying to enjoy the show in his ringside seat next to the former WWE Hall of Famer.
“Everyone in my life felt I handled it perfectly,” Simmons, 55, said when Cousin Sal, who was a guest on the podcast, brought up “your Netflix cameo” on WWE.
“I thought you handled that great, dude!” Sal said.
Simmons did handle the moment with poise.
Bella, who looked stunning in a red leather outfit, did a sultry dance move by swinging her hips — which was part of her signature WWE entrance with her twin sister, Brie Bella.
Simmons looked up and smirked before focusing straight ahead at the ring at a sold-out Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, home of the Clippers.
The event set a record as the highest-grossing WWE arena event of all time.
It came a year after WWE and Netflix struck a mega deal in January 2024 to bring its weekly Monday night “Raw” programming to Netflix beginning in 2025.
Netflix also became the home of WWE Raw, SmackDown, NXT and WWE premium live events, including WrestleMania, Royal Rumble and SummerSlam.
