Polls aren’t the only thing burning the commander in chief.
President Biden was spotted red-faced in the US Virgin Islands on Tuesday as he prepared to head back to the White House after a seven-day vacation in St. Croix.
The 81-year-old president’s striking new sunburn was on full display as he shook hands on the tarmac of Henry E. Rohlsen Airport in Christiansted, St. Croix, before boarding Air Force One with first lady Jill Biden.
The sun’s rays apparently battered Biden, who was beet red from his forehead down to his neck – exposed by the deep-V of his unbuttoned collar.
Biden’s sunburn comes after a cancerous skin lesion was removed from his chest during his annual physical last February. He had previously had a benign but potentially precancerous lesion excised by doctors.
Health officials and numerous scientific studies indicate that tanning greatly increases the risk of developing skin cancer and other maladies.
Most of the more than one million skin cancers diagnosed in the US each year are considered sun-related, according to the American Cancer Society.

“Premature aging is a long-term side effect of UV exposure,” according to the Food and Drug Administration, which notes that the damage may not be apparent until years after a sunburn or suntan.
“Avoiding UV exposure is essential to maintaining healthy skin,” the agency states.
During his White House get-a-way, Biden, his wife and granddaughter Natalie lounged at the three-bedroom beachfront home of Bill and Connie Neville, whose secluded St. Croix retreat typically operates as a VRBO rental.
The lush villa includes an in-ground pool and views of the Caribbean Sea and an offshore island.
The president stayed at the same home last year over the New Year’s holiday and, like this time around as well, didn’t appear to pay for the rental.
House Republican lawmakers slammed Biden for taking the trip to the Caribbean as the country continues to battle an unprecedented border crisis that has seen several major US cities become overrun by migrants coming across the southern border.
Biden revealed on Sunday that his New Year’s resolution is “to come back next year.”
