Adelaide Zoo keepers have told 9News of some of the personal moments they’ve shared with the city’s pandas, with the animals’ return to China just days away.

One of the keepers, Arliah Hayward, has been with Wang Wang and Fu Ni for almost all of their 15 year stay and says learning their quirks has been one of her favourite parts of the job.

“Fu Ni, she just loves to do her own thing,” she said.

“She is her own woman, very headstrong young lady and she loves all her bamboo… 

“Wang Wang, I’m sure everyone knows but he loves bubble baths. 

“He loves anything with a scent on it, one of his favourite scents is a gentleman’s old cologne.”

Fellow keeper Jemma Cleere will miss seeing them every morning.

“They’re typically always sleeping in their hammocks or sitting in their hammocks waiting for us to come in every single morning, so it’s very, very enjoyable to see,” she said.

But the zoo won’t be without pandas for long, as replacements Xing Qiu and Yi Lan are due to arrive by the end of the year.
