Two men are in critical conditions in hospital after being stabbed during a confrontation in Sydney’s west.

Police said emergency services were called to Main Street in Blacktown at about 12.15am on Saturday to find two men, aged 48 and 34, on the footpath with stab wounds.

The older man suffered injuries to his neck and shoulder while the younger man sustained back wounds. 

They were taken to Westmead Hospital in critical but stable conditions.

Police have established a crime scene which is being examined by specialist forensic officers.
