Audio of the mysterious banging noise recorded from the doomed Titan submersible has been shared for the first time since it disappeared from a deep-sea voyage last year.

The OceanGate sub and its five passengers lost contact with its mothership on June 18, vanishing from its journey to the Titanic wreck.

A frantic race against the clock to locate the vessel before the limited oxygen supply ran out began and would span several days.

During that search and days after the sub went missing, a noise was detected by rescue teams.

An audio of the sound has now been released as part of upcoming documentary The Titan Sub Disaster: Minute by Minute by Channel 5 and ITN Productions.

The six-second-long noise appeared to sound like knocking on metal, which raised hope during the major rescue operation that the passengers were still alive.

Officials confirmed the sub likely suffered an implosion which instantly killed all five passengers – OceanGate boss Stockton Rush, British billionaire Hamish Harding, Pakistani-British businessman Shahzada Dawood and his 19-year-old son Suleman and French diver Paul-Henri Nargeolet.

It was therefore concluded the banging noises could not have come from the passengers.

Nazi past of United Nations chief comes to light

The two-part documentary follows the arduous rescue operation and the events that unfolded after it was discovered the sub had imploded.

It will air on Channel 5 on March 6 and 7.

The United States Coast Guard would months later find what was “presumed human remains” near the wreck.

An investigation into the cause of the implosion is still underway with agencies from the United Kingdom, Canada and France taking part.

OceanGate has since suspended all exploration and commercial operations.
