A hooded bandit armed with an axe has been captured on CCTV unleashing against innocent workers at an Adelaide hotel.

Hiding behind a white mask, the man can be seen smashing a glass barrier and pacing back and forth, demanding cash before hitting it again.

Glass shatters over at least two staff members before they hand over a bag of money.

The attack unfolded in the early hours of November 16 at the White Horse Inn at Bolivar.

Victims advocate Michael O’Connell said what unfolded is “likely to have very devastating and quite profound effects” on the victims.

“This isn’t something someone gets over in a matter of nights or even weeks. It could be months or even years,” he said.

“This is horror at first hand.

“Victims in this case will possibly live in fear that the person will come back or other workers may live in fear and worry the perpetrator’s going to come back.”

The suspect is described as about 173cm tall with an average build, wearing a light-coloured hoodie, gloves and a white mask.

He was last seen running north on Port Wakefield Road.

Police are still hunting the suspect, releasing the CCTV in hopes it will help lead to an arrest.
