Baby girl dies days after being found with head trauma, broken bones in NYC home: NYPD

A 1-year-old girl died days after she was found in her Brooklyn home with head trauma and broken bones – and cops revealed Thursday that she was the victim of a homicide.

Officers found the tot unconscious and unresponsive at her home on St. Marks Avenue near Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights around 6:45 p.m. Friday, authorities said.

A man had called 911 to report the baby’s condition, police sources said.

EMS workers rushed her to the Kings County Hospital Center, where she was joined by her 29-year-old mother and initially listed in critical condition, cops and sources said.

She was transferred to Maimonides Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday, police said.

The child had suffered trauma to her head and femur fractures – with her death ruled a homicide, cops and sources said Thursday.

No one has been charged over her death, but detectives were speaking to “multiple people” in connection to the case, the sources said.

The girl’s mom initially told detectives that her daughter drank too much milk and choked, the sources said.

The woman said that she was away from home at the store when the baby fell unconscious, according to the sources.

An autopsy was underway, police said.

The girl’s parents had one prior case with the city Administration for Children’s Services, police said. Authorities did not provide any details on that case.

The girl’s 2-year-old brother was removed from the home, but had no injuries, cops said.
