An investigation is under way after the suspicious death of an 11-month-old boy in regional New South Wales.

Emergency services were called to a home on Hunter Street in Glenn Innes, about 240km north-west of Coffs Harbour, about 6.40am yesterday.

The boy was found unresponsive and was rushed to the local hospital, where he died overnight.

Police are investigating the circumstances around his death.
