It is not known if the arrested athlete was male or female but both Australian teams, the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, were booted from the quarterfinals earlier this week.

It is also unknown how much cocaine the athlete is accused of buying.

‘The Australian Olympic Committee has confirmed an Australian hockey team member is in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6th,’ a statement from the AOC read.

‘No charges have been laid.

‘The AOC is continuing to make enquiries and arrange support for the team member.’

More to come.
