Christmas is just under three months away and retailers are recruiting workers to join their companies, for what is expected to be a huge cyber sales period.
Australia Post is looking to recruit up to 6,000 new permanent and casual team members in every state and territory, for a variety of roles.
They are specifically calling on school leavers and seniors to join their team.
“We offer certainty around shifts for the coming peak period and competitive salaries for a wide range of roles, many of which need no previous experience,” executive general manager people and culture Susan Davies said.
The online retailer said it wants to employ an additional 2000 people by Black Friday – which is November 225 – in casual roles.
These workers would “help pick, pack, ship customer orders” across the company’s fulfilment centres and logistics sites across the country.
“Seasonal roles are great for those who want something shorter term like students on their summer break, while flexible opportunities are perfect for those who want to earn around their existing schedule or are looking for an additional income stream,” Amazon Australia Director of Operations, Mindy Espidio-Garcia said.
The company said it also has jobs available as part of its Amazon Flex program which lets people deliver packages using their own cars.
However with unemployment at a near 48-year low it may struggle to recruit workers.
The Christmas village that supplies the world with decorations
The company attempted the hiring blitz in anticipation of a busy summer and Christmas period.
