Confronting footage of Australian tennis star Bernard Tomic being attacked by two men outside a tattoo parlour has circulated on social media.

In the 16-second clip, Tomic, 30, tries to protect his face with his hands as his attackers stand over him and land a series of kicks and blows.

Tomic, who once ranked as high as No.17 in the world, appears to have been cornered and then attacked by the men, whose identities remain unknown.

In the video, one man is heard calling Tomic a ‘dog’ before unsuccessfully attempting to pull the tennis star to his feet.

The incident is understood to have occurred outside a tattoo parlour in the Gold Coast, Channel 10 has reported.

However, it is unclear when the attack took place.

Tomic competed in a challenger in Istanbul, Turkey, where he lost in round 16 on Thursday after three sets.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Queensland Police for comment.

The tennis player was earlier this year denied a wildcard entry to the Australian Open, missing the tournament for the first time since 2008.

He took the runner-up prize at the M15 Doha 2023 Tennis Tournament in January after he was beaten by Estonian Kristjan Tamm, who was ranked 778th at the time.

Tomic posted an image of him with Tamm on his Instagram account with the caption: ‘Great start to the year. Thanks for having me Qatar’.
