A bushfire emergency is continuing in Perth’s northern suburbs after a blaze ripped through the area and forced 150 people into evacuation shelters last night.
At least 10 homes have been lost to the fires.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Service (DFES) warned residents in parts of Banksia Grove, Jandabup, Mariginiup, Melaleuca, Sinagra, Tapping and Wanneroo they are “in danger” and “need to act immediately to survive”.
“There is a threat to lives and homes,” the warning notice said.
“The alert level for this fire has been upgraded as the bushfire behaviour is escalating.”
It is too late to leave for residents east of Pinjar Road.
They are being warned to shelter in their home in a room away from the firefront.
