A pretty “reliable source” delivered an update on Carlos Rodon’s injury status for the Yankees this season.
Rodon’s wife, Ashley, responded “bulls—t” to a tweet referencing a report from Jomboy’s “Talkin Yanks” podcast on Monday that stated unverified sources within the Yankees building told him to not get hopeful for the lefty pitcher appearing in a game this season.
Rodon has yet to take the mound for the Yankees after suffering a forearm strain during spring training in April, but his progress toward doing any kind of throwing has been hindered by a tight back – which can become a particularly tricky injury.
Doctors have told Rodon his back issues are a “chronic thing,” he said.
Rodon, who signed a six-year, $162 million contract in the offseason, took a small step forward in his rehab on Friday, doing some agility drills at the Yankees’ player development complex in Tampa.

The current plan is for Rodon to receive an injection akin to a cortisone shot early this week.

The Yankees hope it will help solve the back issues that have been restricting Rodon since early April.
“It really sucks,” Rodon said Friday. “I want to be pitching for the New York Yankees. I want to be pitching in this series and with the boys. I want to be competing. It’s hard to sit here and not be doing it and talking to [reporters].”
Rodon finished last year 14-8 with a 2.88 ERA but has yet to help the Yankees on the field this season.
Ashley and Carlos have been married since 2018 and have three children together, with their daughter, Willow, born in 2019 and their son, Bo, born in 2021.
The couple welcomed their second son, Silo, in early April.
