Netflix‘s new docuseries, Arnold, takes a deep dive into the life of actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger. The three-part series is filled with stories from his time in Hollywood and as the Governor of California, but it also dives right into his personal life, which has been full of turbulence and scandal, often relating to his treatment of women.
Among the scandals Schwarzenegger has been involved in are an affair with his former housekeeper, with whom he fathered a child born in 1996, as well as accusations that he groped a number of women over the course of his career.
The groping incidents were originally reported by the Los Angeles Times in 2003; at the time, Schwarzenegger denied that he forcibly touched anyone, saying the accusations were made up, though he admitted at the time that he “had behaved badly sometimes.”
In the time since the accusations first came out, Schwarzenegger has acknowledged that he felt defensive at the time, and wasn’t initially able to take responsibility for his actions.

In Arnold, he explains, “My reaction in the beginning, I was kind of defensive,” per Insider. “Today, I can look at it and kind of say, it doesn’t really matter what time it is. If it’s the Muscle Beach days or 40 years ago, or today, that this was wrong. It was bullshit. Forget all the excuses, it was wrong.”
In the docuseries, Schwarzenegger also addresses details of his extramarital affair in the 1990s with his housekeeper, Mildred Baena, which resulted in the birth of his youngest son, Joseph. Joseph’s paternity remained a secret to Schwarzenegger’s wife, Maria Shriver, and the rest of his family until 2011. Shriver filed for separation that year, and divorced Schwarzenegger in 2021.
You can check out all of these revelations, and many more, when Arnold premieres on Netflix on June 7.
