Alleged armed intruders have smashed into a Melbourne home with an axe, injuring the homeowner.
A 52-year-old man was sleeping when three men armed with machetes started trying to smash their way into his Braybrook home at 1am on Wednesday.
His hand was sliced while trying to barricade his front door after he was woken up by his wife.
“The bone has been chopped, the tendon has been damaged from the index finger,” he told 9News.

The group caused a massive amount of damage in about eight minutes before they fled in two vehicles.
”They smashed the gate, shooting [things], punching and kicking, [they took] an axe and machetes to the windows,” the teacher told 9News.
He told 9News he has “no idea” why his home was targeted.
Victoria Police are investigating.
