ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WLS) — An Arlington Heights crash involving two cars and a bicycle left two people injured Thursday morning.
Police responded at about 7:20 a.m. to a crash at Lake Cook and Wilke roads and found two vehicles and a bicycle involved.
Police said Ford F550 landscaping truck with a trailer was driving east on Lake Road approaching North Wilke Road when a Chevrolet Equinox made a left turn from west Lake Cook Road to go south on Wilke Road. The vehicles crashed, causing the Ford onto the curb and struck a bicyclist waiting to cross Lake Cook Road.
A 43-year-old woman on the bicycle suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Lutheran General Hospital.
The driver of the Equinox was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck is from a concrete company and at least two people are inside of it at the time. The owner of that concrete company said one of his employees in the truck suffered a leg injury
The Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team associated with the northwest suburban Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT), is investigating the crash. Police said there were no signs that either driver was impaired.
